This cute little guy is the local broom salesman.
He walks the streets endlessly, from car to car
and from business to business.
This is the antique coconut shredder. This baby
is old. I can git 'er don with this thing.

these pigs were all scraped cleaned and gutted
ready far the barbecue . it was a very hot
day and they didn't smell too good.

What do you think this is? It is a fresh picked
coconut. After you chop the end off, you make
a little hole and suck out the "Buco" juice. Then
you peal away the outer cover, and crack open
hard coconut. Inside the coconut is yogurt-like
you eat with a spoon.

Mam and a Caribou. Lots of Caribou in these parts.

Here is Francisco showing me how to scrape
the coconut meat onto a plate. It comes out
shredded like we use at home. The tool he
is using is a Filipino antique, possibly 75-100
years old. That left leg on
Francisco is a fake one.

This is mid-day on a main street we travel
to work. People just walk around them. They
are exhausted from begging on the streets.
Notice the carboard under them.

there are so many interesting things over here,
but i get used to them and start thinking it's ordinary.
some of the things i wanted to mention is that the advertizing
in this part of the world, all of asia is so different than the U.S.
none of the magazines carry personel care items or revealing
clothes. in other word even the ads are modest. it's the catholic
church who is in control and i see some good things about
that. there youth are so much more inocent than ours.
we took the young family that is in our blog to the mall last
week for family home evening. we bought pizza and sat in the
mall and watched the waterfalls and enjoyed the beautiful
park like atmosphere. we then walked through the mall.
there eyes were so wide open and Pablo said that he didn't
think he could come in the mall because his skin was so dark.
we opened their eyes up to a whole new world. i hope they are
brave enough to go again on there own.
they are going to be baptized as soon as they can get married.
it has been a problem to get Gena a birth certifac so some one
is working on that. she is expecting a new baby in about 2 weeks.
